Mac OS X -- How to restore with a new install or from a back

Restoring MacOS X

Software: This is for MacOS X 10.7.x Loin and MacOS X 10.8.x Mountain Loin
System: MacPro, iMac, MacMini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air

I am going to assume that you don’t know anything about a Mac, so if you are experience Mac user you may want to skip some parts of this blog. Now you want to reinstall your Mac System.  If you are in your desktop you will need to restart your system.

You click on the “Apple” and chose the “Restart….”

Then you will have a new window popping up, prompting you restart now or cancel.  So we click o “Restart”

So from here, the running applications and windows will be close and your system will begin restarting

Now that your system rebooting, you need to press your “Command + R” keys

Command Key + R

You hold down Command + R for a few seconds and a let go and a new screen will appear

This is your “Recovery Screen”.  It will list all the different way that you can restore you computer.  If you have been making back up with “Time Machine” make sure you plug in your external hard drive or be connected to the network or insert your DVD in the drive. The options will show up here as well.  So the option that we will be picking here is “Recovery HD” so using your arrow key move the
curser to the Recovery drive, and press the “Enter Key”.

This new window will pop up, but before picking any options here, we need to make sure that we are connected to the Internet.  It would be best to be online, because if there are any issues with your “Restore Disk”, Mac OS X installer will start to download the compounds that it needs to install.

On the right hand side, beside the location is wireless connection.  If it looks like this, you are not connected and would be best to be connected.  So if you click on it will give you a list of available networks.  Select your network, and enter in your password.

So now that we are connected, we can now select “Reinstall Mac OS X”.

So now we are reinstalling the Mac OS X here, just follow the prompts and in no time the Mac OS X will be installed
