Part 2 update
Now that's it's been a week now and did some more work on my server. I had an issue with file rights and permissions with my samba server. The shares where on my hard disk that where formatted with NTFS form my old Windows system. So I move files, this took some time because some of the drivers had over 500 gigs of data on them. And then I formatted them for Linux EXT4. Now I can make change to files and add files to my file server.
Another very important thing is my database. It has all of my customer information for invoicing. My plan is to move all the data into MySQL server. This took a bit of time but I was able to do this by using a third party software. Please see http://louiegeekcorner.blogspot.com/p/converting-ms-access-to-mysql.html. Now I still have more work to use this Database, a new user interface. I am going to be using Apache 2 with PHP to access the MySQL. I am post some of my PHP code as well.
So far it's been a bit of work, but I am happy with the way things are going. I am able to share documents with all the system. As for other software like an Office Suite, all the systems has OpenOffice install on them. It's a free software that has Document editor witch can open MS-Word files, SpreadSheet it can open Excel files as well. It can be download from www.openoffice.org, OpenOffice can be install on MacOS X, Linux and Windows.
